CHAPTER TWELVE
NOTE: Sunday, September 24th's lesson begins with question 25.
- As ch. 11 closes, the Pharisees lay in wait for Jesus so that they
may ensnare Him in something of which they may accuse him. How does chapter 12, shift to another scene. How many
people are gathered about Him? Unto whom does He first begin to speak?
- What does Jesus mean by "leaven"
- Why would He make the observations he did in vv. 2-3
- Why should disciples not fear those who can kill the body
- For whom should we have a greater fear? Why
- What lesson does Jesus seek to impress from His statement of the
value of the sparrows
- How does the confession-denial process work
- What shall not be forgiven men? Explain what this means (v. 10)
- Why should these disciples not worry about what they were going to
say when they were brought before the authorities? Is this promise also granted to you
- What did the man found in v. 13, wish for Jesus to do? How did Jesus
respond to him
- What particular sin did Jesus address in the following parable
- What lesson did Jesus seek to teach by the parable
- Why should we not be "anxious" about what we will eat or
what we shall put on
- What can we change by being "anxious"
- If we are anxious about these things what does that indicate
- Instead of seeking these things first, what should we always pursue
first in our lives? If so, what will be added to us?
- From what is said, in v. 33, is Jesus commanding us to sell all that
we have and become beggars? Explain
- Why should we be careful about where are treasures are
- What do the expressions "let your loins be girded about, and
your lights burning" convey
- Do we know at what time Jesus will come? How prepared should we always

- Does a thief come when men are watching
- Which servant is blessed? How is he described? (vv. 41-44)
- What will happen if that servant says in his heart that his Lord
delayeth his coming and will begin to act in an ungodly fashion? With how many stripes will he be beaten
- What is suggested by the "few stripes" in v. 48

- Explain how Jesus came to send division when, at the same time, He
