THE GOSPEL OF LUKE

CHAPTER EIGHT

  1. Who accompanied Jesus as he went throughout the cities and villages preaching?

  2. Who were the "certain women" who ministered to Jesus' needs? Why would Jesus need such ministering unto Him?

  3. Relate the parable Jesus taught in vv. 4-8.

  4. Why did Jesus speak in parables?

  5. How did He explain the parable to His disciples?

  6. In the parable, what do the kinds of soil represent?

  7. In the parable, what is sown into the hearts of men?

  8. What lesson can be drawn from Jesus' teaching about a candle?

  9. Explain what Jesus means in v. 18.

  10. What does Jesus say about who are his mother and brethren? Was He uncaring about his actual mother and brothers who could not reach Him because of the crowd?

  11. What happened as Jesus and His disciples launched out in the boat to get to the other side of the sea? Why did Jesus pose the question to them: "Where is your faith?"

  12. What happened when they reached the country of the Gadarenes? Locate the place on your maps. Describe the man possessed of the unclean spirit. What was the name of the unclean spirit? What happened when the evil spirits were cast into the herd of swine?

  13. Why did the people of the region of the Gadarenes ask Jesus to leave?

  14. About how old was the daughter of Jairus?

  15. As Jesus journeyed toward the house of Jairus, a woman touched the border of Jesus' garment and was healed. How could Jesus know, in the midst of the multitude that pressed about Him, that someone had touched His garment?

  16. Why did the one who came from Jairus' house tell him not to trouble Jesus? Is there a difference in the power to heal a sick person or raise someone from the dead?

  17. Who entered the house with Jesus? How did they react when Jesus said that the little girl was not dead but sleeping?

  18. Explain why that Jesus, on some occasions, charges people not to tell what was done but on other occasions He does miracles openly and makes no such charge?
