Be Watchful
Proverbs 26:23-26
Like the glaze covering an earthen vessel are fervent lips with an evil heart. Whoever hates disguises himself with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart; when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart; though his hatred be covered with deception, his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
If we proclaim to others that we are Christian we are to live the life of a Christian everyday…
We all have to be careful and make sure we are living right and practicing what we preach. God, the world and other Christians are watching how we live our lives and how we treat others. If we go around proclaiming to others that we are Christian and we are not living that way not only are we living in hypocrisy we are in danger of loosing our souls. It is easy to say you are led by the spirit and following the example the lord set for us. Do we? We must be earnest and cautious about how we conduct ourselves.
1 Peter 2:16
Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
We may not always know when we have reached a person that is on the fence about God.
Our simple everyday good Christian attitudes and way of life could be influencing others and we may never know it. We can not be discouraged if certain people we reach out to do not follow Christ right away. We should never give up on them and throw up our hands but perhaps regroup and try a different approach. On the other hand if we are known to be Christians and we act like the world those people may turn away right at the last minute and decide that we are not what we say we are and want no part of us or what we represent.
Titus 1:16
They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work
We represent our lord Jesus Christ we must not tarnish his name and disgrace him in anyway.
As Christians we take on a great responsibility for each other. If we see someone that is not living right and being a hypocrite in sin we have to do something about it we are commanded to do so.
Galatians 6:1
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.
Matthew 18:15
“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.
By doing this we are helping them and ourselves at the same time and all to glorify our lord Jesus Christ.
We are our brother’s keeper.
