What Influences People?

Some time ago a survey was conducted in Houston, Texas to determine what factors influence people in their choice of church affiliation.

Of course we realize that it is the gospel, and it alone, that can truly convert lost sinners to Christ.  Nevertheless, the results of that survey might tell us how we can more effectively reach our neighbors with that saving gospel:

                         3%  -  preacher’s personal visit

                         9%  -  architectural beauty of the church building

                       14%  -  previous church affiliation

                       18%  -  convenience of church building to their home

                       56%  -  direct or indirect contact with a member of the church
