STUDY MATERIAL ON "INSTITUTIONAL" ISSUES

GOD AUTHORIZED ORGANIZATION FOR CONGREGATIONS
- A LOOK AT SIMPLE ORGANIZATION AS GOD DESIGNED IT -- CONGREGATIONS WITH THEIR
OWN ELDERS AND DEACONS.
- Phil. 1:1-2
- 1 Pet. 5:1-ff
- Acts 20:22-28
- Acts 14:23
- Is there any Bible authority for organization other than local, congregational
organization?
- Can we not approach establishing authority for God designed organization in
the same way as establishing authority for God approved music in worship?
- AUTONOMY AND INDEPENDENCE VS. UNIVERSAL STRUCTURE AND/OR BROTHERHOOD OF CHURCHES
BY CONFERENCES.
- What do autonomy and independence mean? Though the actual words are not found
in scripture, are they scriptural concepts? How would you establish the concept of congregational autonomy by the
Bible?
- In the absence of passages which speak of elders and their oversight, how would
you establish the autonomy and independence of congregations?
- Explain what a "sponsoring church" is.
- What is wrong with the "Sponsoring Church Arrangement"?
- It has been argued that Jerusalem became a "Sponsoring Church" according
to Acts 11:27-30, because the elders in Jerusalem received the funds and then distributed them to the churches
in Judaea. How would you refute that argument?
- IN THE MIDST OF DENOMINATIONAL STRUCTURES AND WHAT THEY INHERITED FROM CATHOLIC
CONCEPTS ABOUT CHURCH STRUCTURE...
- Is it possible not to be affected in some way by their concepts?
- In conversations with our religious friends who have an inherited, denominational
concepts about church structure and organization, is it difficult to teach people simple, N.T., congregational
organization?
- What is the best way to approach our denominational friends on this subject?
- What is the best way to approach our brethren who are involved in unscriptural
organizational structures?
