HOW DO WE DETERMINE WHO A FALSE TEACHER IS; THE PROPER AND IMPROPER APPLICATION
OF ROMANS 14, TO OUR DISAGREEMENTS; AND THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF "FELLOWSHIPPING."
PURPOSE
The purpose of this meeting will be twofold:
- To be able to present one's understanding of the subjects under consideration
in a brotherly, scholarly format so that, ultimately, definitive statements from each individual who has been writing
or speaking on these topics will be put in a combined written form; and
- To work together toward reconciliation of thinking and restoration of
confidence in each person's stand for truth.
FORMAT
Manuscripts
Each speaker will first present a manuscript to me in a typed form and also in an electronic file on a disk saved
in ASCII.TXT form one month before the set time for the meeting. No speaker has to read his manuscript as he presents
his material; however, the published book as a combination of all the presentations will contain only what was
written in each speaker's manuscript and the transcribed rebuttal. In fairness, one should not try to pack into
a manuscript material that could not be delivered in one hour -- we would like an equal balance in space for each
speech in the book.
Presentations
Each speaker will be allowed one hour to present his material. One's material should not be designed as a reply
to arguments someone has made -- this is not an adversarial format.
Rebuttals
After two speakers have addressed one subject, each will be given fifteen minutes for rebuttal and/or clarification.
The fifteen-minute rebuttals will have to be transcribed from tape recordings.
Publication of Meeting
I will present the combined, completed manuscripts of all parties to The Preceptor Company to have it put in book
form. I have no interest in the publication except that it is to be available to Christians everywhere and I will
profit in no way financially from its publication. The totality of speeches and rebuttals will also be made available
in an electronic file which can be downloaded from the Cedar Park web site.
